Job Summary:
The Solution Architect will continue to support the project after the blueprint has been created by reviewing deliverables and ensuring the project stays true to the initial designs – or that the blueprint is updated to reflect significant change. The Solution Architect is expected to support the long-term architecture direction and to drive the organization toward its strategy. The Solution Architect will attempt to balance between these long-term strategic objectives and the immediate business requirements. The individual will work closely with other Solution Architects, Technical Architects, Information Architects and Security Architects as part of the Strategy and Architecture Team.
General Duties and Responsibilities: 
– Reports into the lead for Solution Architects and will provide time and attendance reporting in conjunction with project governance.
– Participates in developing vision for a target state architecture with the Strategy and Architecture team. Ensure that new solutions and enhancements to legacy (where possible) follow the direction for target state and work towards an enterprise solution as opposed to a project-only focus.
– Participates and supports activities outside of projects to support the gathering of information, documentation of artifacts and the management of the current state information.
– Is able to think out-of-the-box to develop solutions that take into account known risks, ease of support, and complexity and cost considerations.
– Works with development teams to ensure that the agreed design is followed throughout the lifecycle of the project and is actively involved when variations occur.
– Designs are created that not only meet the current project requirements but are flexible, scalable and provide ease of maintenance and support.
– Must be able to develop high level presentation material for reviews with business, IT and the Architecture Review Board and to present/defend this material.
– Solution Architect is expected to gain a high level of expertise within one or more functional and technical areas. This level of expertise will include the business context of the solution as well as ways of applying the technical infrastructure to best support the solution.
– Is expected to identify solutions that promote stabilization and improve the ?health? of applications. These solutions may include revising architecture to streamline processes and communication between systems.
– The primary area of responsibility will focus on delivery of complex solutions enabling the future state architecture for the company.
– Define, lead, and deliver solution blueprints in areas including but not limited to SAP, Supply Chain, Web/eCommerce, Finance, Merchandising, and Retail Stores Qualifications
– A minimum of 7 to 10+ year’s progressive experience within an information technology environment.
– 5 or more years of industry experience – Retail, Banking or Financial
– Strong knowledge of online retail, CRM, and Supply Chain solutions
– Previous Architecture or Technical Team Lead experience on major eCommerce or Supply Chain transformation projects
– Experience with design and implementation of software in one or more of the following functional areas:
– Supply Chain (Manhattan WMS, JDA Transportation, JDA Demand & Fulfillment, or similar)
– ERP (SAP IS-Retail, SAP CRM or similar) – Knowledge of architecture methods and standards (e.g. TOGAF)
– Relational database concepts, design, implementation, and integration
– Architecture/design techniques (including but not limited to OO, top-down, structured analysis, component-based design)
– Knowledge of emerging technologies – Solid knowledge of a variety of technologies/approaches including but not limited to J2EE, .NET, mainframe, packaged application integration, workflow, EAI/ESB, SOA, networking and operating system concepts.
