Job Description
Live Assets | Transit Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Subcontracts Specialist to join a leading transit project with one of our clients in Toronto, supporting a team delivering a large-scale public transit infrastructure project. This role offers the opportunity to work on a complex, high-profile infrastructure program with multiple stakeholders, subcontractors, and engineering partners. You will be responsible for the full commercial and administrative lifecycle of assigned subcontracts. Your work will directly impact cost control, risk management, and successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Managing the performance, administration, and commercial oversight of assigned subcontracts
- Collaborating with subcontractors to establish rates, resource lists, and transparent change processes
- Coordinating with internal teams on matters affecting contractual rights, obligations, and subcontract performance
- Developing and updating subcontract cost forecasts for Project Controls
- Verifying, negotiating, and administering variations, claims, rate changes, and delay issues
- Maintaining accurate records to support change management and potential claims
- Ensuring timely and accurate contractual correspondence and deliverable tracking
- Chairing subcontractor kickoff and review meetings, including preparation of meeting minutes
- Working with engineering consultants to ensure commercial deliverables meet contract requirements
- Administering subcontract closeout, warranties, insurance, and bonding requirements
- Supporting progress payments, schedule monitoring, and claims administration as required
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction, Legal Studies, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 6 years of experience in contract or subcontract administration
- Experience on rail transit or large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., transportation, power, renewable energy, oil & gas, utilities)
- Proven experience preparing and issuing subcontract documentation
- Strong knowledge of construction law and applicable construction legislation
- Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with SAP and SharePoint (an asset)
- A collaborative, ethical, and professional approach when handling sensitive commercial information
