Systems Analyst – BI Developer

Live Assets | IT Staffing Solutions seeking a Systems Analyst – Business Intelligence Developer. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, management and optimization of the data infrastructure used for enterprise-wide reporting and analysis.  The ideal candidate will be an excellent problem solver and communicator while also demonstrating advanced technical skills.  The incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day activities related to dashboard/report development, data modeling, troubleshooting data, and system-related issues and ensuring that applications are optimized and running efficiently.


  • Analyze, develop, test, document, and promote enhancements to enterprise data warehouse.
  • Document requirements and develop detail design specifications to enhance existing/or add additional data by working with business analysts and other stakeholders.
  • Retrieve, analyze, and transform data into creative, visual engaging visualizations in PBI.
  • Effectively communicate, train and educate end users on tools and analytical findings.
  • Optimize, maintain and drive architecture of database infrastructure and reporting interface(s).
  • Troubleshooting data, application, performance and server issues.
  • Maintain and enhance BI standards and implement best practices solutions across team and organization.
  • Expand data dictionary by working with end users to define terms and definitions used in the reporting layer
  • Work with functional teams to identify and maintain master data, develop reports to help with find MDM issues
  • Execute and/or lead projects. Work with the team to ensure projects are being run effectively to ensure on time, on budget project completion with minimal impact to the business utilizing proper project management methodologies and processes.
  • Endorse the use of existing utilities, tools and systems and promote any others that may become recommended, standard or mandatory.
  • Assist teams in itemizing, prioritizing, and delivering results with a small diverse group.
  • Assist in generating management reports, metrics, and routine reporting for IT.
  • Assist in developing and implementing IT policies and procedures.
  • Work with 3rd parties and vendors to assist in problem resolution and/or providing innovative solutions.
  • Ability to perform tasks that may be outside of the scope of the above as defined by the Manager and/or Director.


  • University degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Data Science or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in data architect/data warehouse design, development, implementation and optimization
  • 3-5 years of experience with Power BI
  • Proficiency in TSQL, DTS/SSIS packages, relational databases and data modeling
  • Proficiency in Power BI Development including Power Query and DAX
  • Experience in Power BI Administration including gateways, security. Premium capacity exposure a bonus
  • Experience with Data Flows, Direct Query and Importing of data
  • Sound knowledge of Database, ETL and report performance tuning practices.
  • Experience preparing data for Business Intelligence tools
  • Understanding of Master Data Management tools and processes.
  • Effective technical specification writing and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Experience with TimeXtender or Jet Data Manager an asset.
  • Understanding of ERP concepts and practical experience with Dynamics AX an asset.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and concentrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to evaluate and solve various issues.
  • Customer service-oriented.
  • Must be able to multitask in a dynamic environment.

  • Understand, support, and comply with Company, Provincial and Federal Environmental legislation and regulations as applicable
  • Report any Environmental, Health and Safety concerns to management
  • Understand, support and comply with all food safety and quality policies/procedures as per SQF Code which includes but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), Food Security, Kosher, Organic, Allergen, NHP, Hygiene, government regulations and customer requirements.
  • Attend SQF, GMPs and Quality training as required
  • Responsible to report food safety problems and/or quality problems to Managers/Supervisors or person with authority to initiate actions.
