Job Description
Live Assets | IT Staffing Solutions is hiring a Manager IT Operations & Security for one of its clients. The Manager IT Operations & Security will drive and oversee service desk operations, systems administration, and cybersecurity initiatives to ensure efficient and secure IT operations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures aligned with service desk operations and cybersecurity standards.
  • Manage daily service desk and system admin operations, ensuring timely issue resolution while following ITIL and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Lead and coordinate IT service desk and systems administration activities.
  • Oversee cybersecurity activities with MSSPs, ensuring effective monitoring, rapid incident response, thorough vulnerability management, and adherence to security policies and regulations.
  • Create and maintain disaster recovery and backup plans to ensure rapid recovery and minimal downtime.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing hybrid IT team by mentoring talent, promoting accountability, and driving a culture of engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and drive accountability for outcomes, service excellence, and adherence to professional standards, aligned with ITIL best practices and continuous service improvement principles.
  • Ensure the security, availability, and performance of all IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain strong security protocols to safeguard organizational data and systems.
  • Assess, recommend, and guide the adoption of technology solutions.
  • Drive the administration and full lifecycle management of Microsoft platforms—including Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, and Microsoft 365—across hybrid on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring reliability, security, and optimal performance.
  • Design, implement, and maintain strong security measures to safeguard the organization’s data, systems, and infrastructure.

 

Necessary Skills

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent education coupled with relevant professional experience.
  • 10+ years of IT expertise driving service desk efficiency, optimizing systems administration, and strengthening cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of motivating remote and on-site teams.
  • Expert in managing IT projects end-to-end, driving successful delivery while effectively balancing day-to-day operational demands.
  • Experience using IT service management tools (e.g., Jira Service Management) to manage workflows, track tickets, and resolve incidents efficiently.
  • Expert-level ITIL and ITSM expertise to drive operational excellence, improve service delivery, and ensure efficient IT operations; in-depth understanding of IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
  • Experience across Microsoft ecosystems, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, and Microsoft 365 in both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Solid knowledge of network architecture, security principles, and high-availability design to ensure system resilience.
  • Skilled in virtualization platforms, including Hyper-V and VMware, with experience managing complex hybrid IT environments.Comfortable handling and deploying IT equipment to support operational and upgrade requirements.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft 365 tools for documentation, reporting, and communication.
  • Experience working in both unionized and non-unionized environments is an advantage.
  • Willing and capable of managing the movement of IT hardware to facilitate system upgrades and operational needs.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to deliver solutions.
  • Industry-Recognized Certifications (e.g., Microsoft Azure Administrator, Windows Server, or similar) are considered an asset.

 

Salary range is expected to be between

  • Full-Time: Annual salary of 100,000 CAD to 110,000 CAD, depending on the experience level.
