Job Description
Live Assets | Transit Staffing Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Project Manager-Systems Maintenance for one of our clients in the transit sector, to oversee the operations and maintenance of critical transit systems. Reporting to the Senior Systems Operation Manager, the incumbent will oversee interim maintenance activities, address scope clarifications with the interim maintainer, and oversee technical coordination between design, installation, operations & maintenance teams. and ensure schedule adherence, scope clarity, and technical coordination across teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal teams to align integration plans, design and installation drawings, commissioning reports, and relevant documentation.
- Ensure projects adhere to approved plans, specifications, shop drawings, and building codes while maintaining quality standards.
- Coordinate with the interim systems maintenance vendor to minimize operational disruptions in the yard and mainline, under the appropriate maintenance regime.
- Monitor and manage planned and corrective maintenance activities, ensuring timely execution and proper record-keeping in the Maintenance Management System database.
- Work with the project team to maintain and drive project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
- Strengthen maintenance team collaboration and leverage scheduling opportunities to advance maintenance activities efficiently.
- Identify and mitigate risks while optimizing schedule and financial outcomes.
- Maintain strong relationships and effective communication with the maintainer of the project.
- Organize and lead meetings with clients, stakeholders, and external stakeholders.
- Manage budgets, staffing, and schedules to ensure project deliverables are met.
Necessary Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or related discipline.
- Five + years of experience in transit systems or large-scale construction projects, ideally as an Assistant or a Lead Project Manager or Project Coordinator with extensive industry knowledge.
- Hands-on experience with transit systems, including trackwork, overhead catenary, signaling, communications, and fire/life safety systems.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, conflict resolution skills, gap analysis expertise, and the ability to communicate assertively yet fairly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, self-motivation, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Expertise in data management, recordkeeping, research, analysis, and reporting.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Project Management Professional (P.M.P) certification will be an asset.
