Job Description
Live Assets | Transit Staffing Solutions seeks a meticulous Drafting Expert to join a major Canadian transit and infrastructure project. This role provides technical support from the site office, encompassing tasks like creating layouts and schematics, managing project data, and
ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate possesses strong drafting skills with MicroStation V8i, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and PDF editing.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain technical drawings and diagrams using MicroStation V8i.
- Implement and follow established quality control procedures for surveying data.
- Quality review of CAD drawings for submission
- Review and update project data for various departments, collaborating closely with the Quality and Technical Departments
- Document control, including final drawings, temporal drawings, and sketches, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Establish and maintain document filing systems and data formats.
- Calculate material quantities based on project specifications.
- Provide technical support for the design and implementation of temporary works.
- Assist the Technical Manager and department with various technical tasks.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Adapt to a variety of project needs and requests as assigned by the Technical Manager and department.
- Regular interaction with internal staff across various departments (design, construction, scheduling, document control, safety, estimating, and quality control).
- Potential interaction with client representatives, suppliers, and contracted trades.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in drafting, preferably within the civil and construction industry.Proficiency in using MicroStation V8i and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc).
- A Certified Engineering Technologist/ Technician (CET) by OACETT.
- Expertise in AutoCAD and file conversion between formats (CAD to MicroStation).
- Solid understanding and working experience with MicroStation V8i functionalities.
- Basic skills in editing PDF documents using software like Foxit PDF Editor or Bluebeam Revu.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment while meeting deadlines.
- Capacity to work independently and under supervision as required by the project phase.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced work environment.
