Job Description

Live Assets | Transit Staffing Solutions is hiring a System Verification and Validation Engineer for one of our clients, a Transit Infrastructure leader in Canada. This role provides vital technical expertise for a project’s Verification and Validation (V&V) team. The engineer will collaborate across various project stages with the Design, Suppliers, and the Testing & Commissioning team to ensure successful project delivery.


Responsibilities

  • Scrutinize and approve all assigned V&V tasks.
  • Verify that project deliverables adhere to established agreements and subcontracts, where applicable.
  • Implement and maintain testing procedures outlined in the V&V plan.
  • Analyze all relevant systems engineering documentation (evidence, plans, procedures, and results) from a V&V standpoint.
  • Partner with Quality Control to validate project requirements.
  • Participate actively in validation activities during testing and commissioning phases.
  • Contribute data and information to the designated V&V database.
  • Perform additional duties related to managing project requirements and ensuring compliance.
  • Attend and actively participate in test review meetings.
  • Maintain clear communication channels with various project teams (design, quality, project management, etc.).
  • Gather evidence from all project phases (Design, Construction, and Testing & Commissioning) for thorough V&V analysis.
  • Ensure comprehensive testing covers all project requirements (functionality, safety, reliability, security, and performance) to achieve project approvals and guarantee proper implementation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and maintain a clear traceability matrix.
  • Contribute to the creation of comprehensive V&V reports.
  • Continuously build a library of best practices to guide future similar projects.

 

Requirements

  • Engineering degree (preferably electrical) or a relevant Technologist certification with demonstrable experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the rail industry with knowledge of one or more of the following systems:
    • Signaling/CBTC
    • Railway Vehicles
    • Traction Power Systems
    • Overhead Catenary Systems
    • Tunnel Ventilation Systems
    • Trackwork
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in V&V processes.
  • Familiarity with relevant railway standards (e.g., CENELEC).
  • Experience in developing test procedures and working effectively with testing & commissioning teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
